Rituals of Mine came to town Saturday night to play at Kelly’s Olympian. This show felt so much like a hometown show, with multiple Portland local acts opening the night up. Chibia got the crowd ready with a playful conversational set ending with a cover of T-Pains “Can I Buy You A Drink”. Isabeau Waia’u Walker came on next to play a beautifully melodic moody set that felt almost dreamlike. Rituals of Mine came on to the stage with an outpour of love for Portland and its music scene. The love reverberated throughout the packed venue as many graciously returned the gratitudes back. The show was powerful and raw. The lights pounding with the drums creating spaces of darkness and excitement. The music was an outpour of emotion and many felt very connected with the lyrics and meanings of the songs as they chanted and swayed to the beat. It was truly a great night to get to spend time at an amazing local venue.
