Earlier this spring, NYC-based singer-songwriter, drummer, and producer Malick Koly announced his brand new EP, Feel Bad Fest, due August 18. Following the recent release of singles from the project — “Dolòr” and “Heaven For Now” (featuring Ron Carter and Vernon Reid) — today, Koly shares a brand new video for the former, “Dolòr.”
As Koly wrote of the track and its accompanying video: “‘Dolòr’ is a ditty about growing pains hence the name of the track. And the motion film for ‘Dolòr’ is very much a dreamlike state presenting the falsehood that every search must lead to a destination, when sometimes all a search has is store is growth and healing. It’s visual structure is very much inspired by post colonial West African film hence why we shot it on 16mm & this is something Derek Matar (director of photography) & Rob Proto(Producer) on the project had to keep in mind even while we were shooting the New York City sides of the Feel Bad Fest story.”
The holistic forthcoming Feel Bad Fest EP was executively produced by Steve Jordan (who has drumming credits with Rolling Stones, the SNL and Late Night with David Letterman bands, the John Mayer Trio, Keith Richards’ X-Pensive Winos, and more).
On their collaboration, Jordan wrote: “Malick gave me a call and asked me if I would participate, and there it was. It’s got a lot of potential, it’s interesting & different. Refreshing, and that’s why I am a part of this.”
