Seattle’s Brendan Regan releases single “Have You Seen Wings?” with Rebecca Lomnicky (The Fire) from debut album ‘swivel’

“Have you seen her?” A woman has flown westward on un-tested wings. Her lover thinks she may have crashed, but would welcome her back anytime, no questions asked. A soaring lament from Seattle-emigrant Regan with Celtic World vibes that riffs on traditional abandonment balladry with allusion to the myth of Icarus. ‘Have You Seen Wings?’ features an astounding contribution from Rebecca Lomnicky (The Fire), world-renowned Scottish style fiddler and who has a dedicated following in the Celtic milieu.

“I’ve been a fan of Rebecca’s fiddling for years and was thrilled when she agreed to collaborate,” Regan says. “She’s an absolute pro and nailed the performance that was needed to round out this song. I’m still in ‘Fan Boy’ bliss on this one.”

Brendan Regan’s Album Launch Show! for ‘swivel’ will take place at Seattle’s Rabbit Box Theatre (94 Pike St.) on August 19.

Brendan Regan spent his early years drumming for post-punk and indie bands in Toledo, Denver, and eventually Seattle, becoming more invested in the songwriting process as he migrated west. Then, one early morning after a gig, unloading drum gear in a Pacific Northwest deluge, he realized his drumming days were done. The next day he sold his kit, bought a guitar, and began pouring out bittersweet, dark, personal hymns and lilting melodies filled with both melancholy and the spellbinding beauty of connected existence.

Now a Seattle-based singer-songwriter and indie folk musician with an elegiac Celtic influence, does the Pacific Northwest’s gray skies, lush landscapes, and dramatic geography inspire his moody, bittersweet sound? Regan doesn’t think so, but he’s put down roots here because living in the Upper Left “reinforced how [he] already felt inside.”

Though he’s released four EPs in recent years, swivel expands his stylistic palette, tapping into various genres and vibes. “This LP is establishing my full spectrum,” he says.

Regan’s album is now available on Spotify, Amazon Music, iTunes, and YouTube.
