What a year it has been for rising pop star Isabel LaRosa.
In the spring, while winding down a sold-out, nationwide tour with Nessa Barrett, LaRosa released her critically anticipated EP, YOU FEAR THE GOD THAT LOVES YOU. Over the summer, she released her now viral single “eyes don’t lie,” performed for the first time at both Lollapalooza and All Point East, and was featured on the cover of the ONES TO WATCH Summer Issue.
Now, as Summer slowly fades into Fall, LaRosa has released her newest single, “older,” via Slumbo Labs/RCA Records – listen HERE. The video for “older” will premiere two weeks later. Prior to the official track release, “older” had 550+ million views on user generated content utilizing the sound, and over 112K creations across TikTok.
“older” is a sultry, pulsating romp that showcases LaRosa’s ability to turn coming-of-age stories about infatuation and heartbreak into addictive, alt-pop hits for the new generation.
In fact, LaRosa’s meteoric rise can be attributed – at least in part – to her refreshing authenticity, which is often craved by young music fans. Across all her releases – including the super-viral track “i’m yours,” LaRosa has garnered over 500 million streams worldwide and well over a billion short-form video views. Her music has been featured on flagship Spotify playlists like Today’s Top Hits, Fresh Finds, and Pop Rising, as well as Breakthrough Pop and Brand New Music on Amazon, and New Music Daily and New In Pop on Apple.
LaRosa was recently chosen as one of just six artists to be part of TikTok’s first ever Elevate program. Through Elevate, TikTok will provide breakout stars with support both in-app and out in the world to build their careers beyond a trending hit.
“As the destination for music discovery, we are so excited to provide artists with meaningful support on and off TikTok to help them find long-term success in the music industry,” says Rachel Dunham, North America Artist Partnerships Lead at TikTok.
Born in Annapolis, MD, LaRosa has music running through her DNA. Her dad would take her to mic nights and jazz clubs growing up where he played the saxophone and her brother Thomas played guitar. Inspired by the musical influences around her, she began songwriting with Thomas in elementary school and from there, a creative duo was formed.
Today, LaRosa still writes and produces music solely with her brother. Together, they mix different musical styles – from electric bedroom pop to hyper and indie pop – to create a sound all their own. LaRosa’s videos are often inspired by sci-fi, thriller, and horror movies and television shows, and provide the backdrop for her sonic universe.
