LYN LAPID UNVEILS NEW SINGLE “east side”

NEW YORK, NY – NOVEMBER 17TH, 2023 – Today, 21-year-old singer and songwriter Lyn Lapid reveals her new single “east side,” taken from her forthcoming deluxe EP to love in the 21stcentury: the epilogue, out December 1st on Mercury Records/Republic Records. Listen to “east side” now HERE and watch the visualizer HERE!

Lyn says, “I’m so excited to share my new song ‘east side,’ it’s a really special and personal song I wrote about my hometown friends back in Maryland. I wrote about how my hometown friendships over the years have turned into ‘low maintenance friendships,’ mostly because I don’t see my old school friends as much as I used to, yet despite everything it hasn’t affected our friendship at all. We’ve grown to live such different lives with them being in college and me pursuing music full time, we don’t talk or hangout as much as we used to, but our friendship still remains strong even if I’m not as close with them anymore.”

She continues, “I was debating doing a deluxe version of this project at first mostly because every song that made it to the EP was able to tell every part of the story I wanted to write about. It strictly follows a romantic situation between me and a boy, and how the course of our no label relationship epitomizes what it’s like to be young and find love in my generation. However, the songs on the deluxe touch on what happens after, and also the importance of platonic love outside of the story. I feel like so many people in my generation are so eager to find romantic love that we lose how important friendship is, I mean friends are the ones that we talk to about our significant others, and they’ll also be the ones to comfort us if a relationship ends. My EP will touch on how important it is to not forget that.”

to love in the 21stcentury was released earlier this summer and drew inspiration from fan favorite Gen Z rom-coms, including To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before and The Summer I Turned Pretty. The EP tells the story of the beginning, middle, and end of a relationship, capturing all the emotions of a first love. It includes singles “poster boy” and “ok with it” and has amassed over 40 million streams to date. Sweety High described it as “a work of art from start to finish,” while Her Campus said, “Her sophomore EP is an alt pop sonic journey through the DMs-over-daisies state of modern love as seen through the eyes of its all-too-relatable protagonist. The 20-year-old indie songstress wears her heart on her sleeve for each track.” Watch the to love in the 21stcentury short film HERE!
