NEW YORK, NY (December 1, 2023) –  Introducing Haiden, the buzzing pop singer-songwriter who delivers deep cutting truths wrapped in candy-coated melodies. After amassing tens of millions of streams independently, several viral moments online, and earning widespread acclaim from Earmilk, Sweety High, and PopdustHaiden unveils a new single entitled “killed the kid” out now via LAVA/Republic Records.

Before signing to LAVA/Republic Records, Haiden shared his songs online, quickly gaining an audience. In 2022, he lit up social media with a teaser of the song, “Can’t Hurt Me,” receiving nearly 7M views, paving the way for viral moments to come. On its heels, his single “Sorry To Your Next Ex” amassed over 15M global streams, driving his debut EP, Good Grief!, to surpass 26M globally to date.

“killed the kid” illuminates newfound dynamics in Haiden’s signature style. Loose acoustic guitar trembles underneath lithe vocal melodies evoking a sweet melancholy similar to that of “I Will Follow You Into The Dark” by Death Cab for Cutie. He flexes his range on a hypnotic, yet hard-hitting hook, “I don’t want you to die, but it kills me keeping you alive.” Stay tuned for a music video to accompany the track soon.

On the new track Haiden said: “This song was written as I lightly sobbed on my best friend’s couch (lol) over a person that didn’t care about me as much as I did them. I was frustrated by the child-like part of me that trusts people without fear or reason – the part that falls too easily – and suddenly ‘I killed the kid inside of me this morning’ fell out of my mouth as I played the opening chords.”

The official music video for the track sees Haiden embark on an emotional journey to kill his younger self (played by his 12-year-old cousin!). Navigating between two juxtaposing sets, Haiden pulls his inner child out of childhood and into the dark abyss of adulthood. Realizing at the end that his hopeless romantic side is an important part of who he is.

Haiden has quietly emerged as a phenomenon on his own terms. His arresting voice, open-hearted lyricism, and raw unpredictable soundscapes anchor an emotionally charged and engaging vision on all of his music.

It’s just the beginning though. Stay tuned for a whole lot more from Haiden.
