December 8, 2023 –  Today, The Vaccines release Love To Walk Away,” the latest single from their new album Pick-Up Full of Pink Carnations that releases January 12 via Thirty Tigers. The stirring song that unlocked the entire record, “Love To Walk Away” sets the tone for the album’s guitar-forward pop ethos with lead singer Justin Young’s staccato delivery and defiant, love-drunk lyrics: “you’re so sad, so what? we’re all sad.”

“Sometimes going into an album you know exactly what it is you want the music to do, and other times you’re waiting for the music to tell you what to do,” says Young. “We knew we were ready to make another record, but it wasn’t until we wrote ‘Love To Walk Away’ on the first day in the studio with Andrew that we knew how it would sound and feel. So this is the song responsible for the album’s direction sonically and thematically. Given the record’s central theme is not knowing what direction you’re headed in, it feels poignant that the music was so sure of itself so quickly.”

Co-written with album producer Andrew Wells (Halsey, Phoebe Bridgers), “Love To Walk Away” follows the band’s November earworm “Lunar Eclipse,” as well as the instant Vaccines classic “Heartbreak Kid” and the cathartic “Sometimes, I Swear.” Pick-Up Full of Pink Carnations is the epitome of what The Vaccines do best: 60’s-inspired classicist guitar pop filtered through a new wave lens, with equal parts euphoria and melancholy. The album drips with fun while also exploring the ways real life lets us down. The new music has already garnered early praise from press including Guitar World, Consequence, NME, DIY Mag and more.

Torchbearers for British guitar music, The Vaccines have forged a fierce live reputation performing on main stages at Glastonbury, Lollapalooza and Coachella, and touring with The Rolling Stones, Arctic Monkeys, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Muse. The band recently announced their return to the US for a coast-to-coast tour with The Kooks in spring 2024.
