Marc Mysterio wants to fight Jake Paul to unify the Vacant WBC Bridgerweight Silver and Vacant IBA Super Cruiserweight Championships and open a show for his fellow Irish Hero, Two-Weight World Champ Katie Taylor, at Croke Park in Dublin, Ireland.
An Irish boxer and musician challenged YouTuber-turned-fighter Jake Paul to a fight at Ireland’s biggest stadium on St Patrick’s Day weekend. Marc Mysterio, who has collaborated on tracks with Flo Rida, Crash Test Dummies and composed music for Netflix’s Trailer Park Boys, wants to fight Paul in the WBC Silver Bridgerweight Championship in Ireland on March 16, with a rematch clause set for the summer as the opening bout of a card headlined by fellow Irish Hero and Role Model Katie Taylor at Croke Park, Ireland’s largest stadium.
The fight, initially proposed for the newly formed WBC Bridgerweight Division of 200-224 lbs, now has the added allure of the IBA’s board coming to a unanimous decision to back the Irish-Canadian’s challenge by proposing to unify their vacant IBA Super Cruiserweight Championship (200-220lbs) with the vacant WBC Bridgerweight Silver Championship (200-224lbs).
“”IBA was the first to have the 200-220lbs division, and we are intrigued by this potential matchup of our friend Marc Mysterio vs Jake Paul.
Our Super Cruiserweight Intercontinental Championship is vacant at this time, so once this fight is confirmed, and WBC officially sanctions it for their 224lbs Bridgerweight Silver title, it could make sense to propose a unification of our two vacant titles to the participants and their teams, not to mention the WBC whom is, of course, a long time friend of Marc Mysterio that is affiliated with their charity WBC Cares.” as stated by IBA President Mr. JC Courreges, in an official statement from IBA’s Executive Office, following a unanimous vote from the IBA Board of directors (the official signed statement is available for preview and download as part of this PlayMPE digital delivery and may be re-posted, etc. by any recipient).
As noted in the attached letter of support from WBC International Secretary and WBC Cares Global Chairwoman, and as quoted by both edm.com and the Irish Star, Jill Diamond stands behind Mysterio as well. “”Marc Mysterio is a force in the music world and the boxing ring and, moreover, is a close friend of the WBC and affiliated with WBC Cares, the charity arm of the WBC,” said Jill Diamond, the Secretary for the World Boxing Council, in a press release shared with EDM.com. “We support Marc’s efforts in Boxing.” concludes Diamond, additionally a veteran WBC Supervisor for scores of Championship Bouts over the past few decades.
Explaining more about WBC Cares, Mysterio said: “We help disadvantaged children in over 170 Countries globally. The most important gift in life is a second chance, however, some people don’t receive a first! My mission is to educate our youngest and most vulnerable on the importance of taking advantage of a first chance and the importance of self-improvement!”
Giving the musician another vote of confidence in his endeavor, Kyle Kennedy, who runs the record label that released the recent ‘Trailer Park Boys’ soundtrack, added: “Marc Mysterio is the one artist that has shunned social media in favor of using traditional media with the mind-set that for the duration of his PR Campaign, their followers become his. For example, edm.com alone has 2.1 million likes on Facebook and has already posted once on this story and will do so again!
Edm.com is far from being alone! I’ll put my audience cumes and global reach on a daily basis against Jake’s any day of the week! He lacks sophistication but is young enough to still have time to learn, but must change now!
In sum, Jake Paul has a warped view of how he perceives ‘other celebrities’ worth based on their own followers. Marc only speaks to the media when he has something major to announce. He is real! Like true Irish are and the respect goes beyond the borders of our Island!
I must note before concluding that recently, we’ve lost Irish Heros Sinéad O’Connor and Dolores O’Riordan, however, Marc is a role model and is doing his part in concert with Katie Taylor and Conor McGregorr, to take the flag and run with it to be the heros for the next generation. Congrats as well from all of us here to Conor and Dee Devlin on the healthy newborn baby boy. Sinéad O’Connor and Dolores O’Riordan were a big loss, but I’m confident in Katie Taylor, Conor McGregor and Marc Mysterio to be our top heros moving forward.”
Irish-Canadian composer Mysterio plans to enter the ring to Zombie by The Legendary Irish Band, The Cranberries if Paul accepts his challenge.
On Wednesday night, Marc Mysterio received an interesting offer from an old friend volunteering to perform Zombie live for Marc’s entrance, preceded by “The Bagpipe Army” to welcome in one of it’s two Irish Hero’s on the night.
“Rick Derringer’s manager, Kenn Moutenot, called me and said that Rick would be happy to perform “Zombie” live for my walk out music against Jake Paul. Kenn will further organize a group of Irish Bagpipe players to precede the formal entrance in to the arena and the live performance of “Zombie”. I have always respected Rick, and his hit “Real American” was and remains iconic as Hulk Hogan’s WWE Entrance Music. I was floored and immediately agreed on the spot!” notes an elated Marc.
Regarding “The Dancefloor”, which is being presently serviced out to radios globally, this marks the second time Marc Mysterio has collaborated with Flo Rida with the former being a charity effort to benefit the victims of the 2013 Boston Marathon Bombings.
“To avoid confusion, ”The Dancefloor” was our original collaboration sampling ‘Respirator’ by Flo Rida. We agreed that, in light of my connections to Boston, we would save the full song for the future and I would, effectively, release a version using only the sample re-titled ‘Booty On The Floor’ to assist the innocent men and women simply running a marathon that were needlessly attacked.
Well, the future is now and now that the club remixes managed to become a Billboard Magazine Hot Dance Chart Hit, we are ready to unleash the soon to be release radio remix from my friend Karl G of Bristol, England, which will also be the mix utilized for the forthcoming music video” notes Marc Mysterio who notched his first ever US Billboard Hit as an artist – despite scores of Gold & Platinum Awards from IFPI in Europe and Top 40 hits in Canada – thus far peaking at #26, with over 900,000 weekly US Based Subscription Streams of the club remixes of “The Dancefloor” – which simultaneously hit #1 on Amazon Music UK streaming service (see attached screenshot)!
Regarding Jake Paul, Marc has shown no animosity of hatred towards the man. Rather, a willingness to welcome him in to the mainstream and on how to maintain professionalism and not embellish his achievements to the fans.
“Jake is misunderstood, but he means well. I see a lot of myself in him. Although I see some clear faults in his game, I’d be happy to help (in time).
However, he needs to stop trying to hog the limelight at the expense of Amanda Serrano! March is her homecoming as champ to Puerto Rico. Jake is her promoter. My two cents is for Jake to wear his wingtips and be a professional and promoter! Allow Amanda to have her night and stay classy and allow women’s boxing to shine on it’s own. If you follow my advice, Jake, you will win universal respect from the fans and the sports world – money and views can’s buy that!” showing his experience, Marc is offering Jake the opportunity of a lime time to challenge him, pending WBC Board of Directors vote, for the chance to unify the division!
“The ball is in his court! Spin the wheel, make the deal! Like The Miz says, ”We’re not in Ohio anymore’, apologize for the Dorothy parody.” Irish-Canadian Star concludes.
Marc;’s longtime coach, and Team USA Boxing Level 3 and Top 25 Ranked Official, Greg Leschishin, whom will be officiating the Team USA Olympic Finals Qualifiers in March stands behind his long-time pupil who began training with Coach Greg at the age of 12.
“I have always believed in Marc Mysterio. Explosive dual-handed Knockout Power, slick footwork/defense, not to mention the best ring awareness I’ve seen in my 50 years in the sport! His resume speaks for itself — both in both sports and music.
Jake Paul is in trouble if he takes this fight, however, to progress in his career and, moreover, given his new role with Team USA, he has no choice but to accept this fight if he wants to maintain the respect from the rest of us lifers!
It’s always an honor to work with Marc from age 12 till now. He has always been a professional and we at Team USA hope that rubs off on Jake. Being in Marc’s corner for this proposed (now WBC/IBA Unificiation Bout) will be the highlight of my 50 year career in Boxing.” notes Coach Greg, additionally a professor of Rock N’ Roll History at UMASS Boston and Retired USAF.
Mysterio, whose four-time great-grandfather Pádraig Dillon was a bare-knuckle fighter in Dublin in the 1840s, said he will “obliterate” Paul in the ring and “bring the belts back to our family where they belong, in Ireland, whether it’s Jake Paul or anyone else if he doesn’t have the guts to show up and ‘That’s my story and I’m stickin’ to it’” echoing Dillon’s famous line he’d shout out following his victories.
Marc concludes with a statement to his fans and media at large, “I have always remained true to each and everyone of you. Even when I veered away from house music to work with my friends on the show, ‘Trailer Park Boys’, most of you supported me. For those that didn’t, I am happy you made your voice heard on Reddit and elsewhere. Cheer me or boo me, you have always reacted to me and respected me which is the goal of any true professional performer and the highest praise you can give to me as an athlete and performer. I hope you will react to “The Dancefloor” – for which the streaming revenue will go to benefit WBC Cares – as it may be awile before you see me in the musical arena again… What’s more, when, not if, Jake Paul shows up – and he will — we already know the results… It’s not a prediction but a spoiler… It’s ordained to happen!” concludes a confident Marc Mysterio whom is backed by the music and boxing world against (The Heel) Jake Paul.
