Castro’s upbringing in the Pedregal neighborhood in Medellin, Colombia is what inspired his forthcoming studio album, and is set to fortify the purpose he’s kept strong throughout his career of embracing the streets, but overcoming its obstacles. The project will showcase his musical essence of dancehall, rap, and reggaeton, all of which have shaped Castro to become the global hitmaker he is today.
Last weekend, Castro made his Coachella debut as a surprise guest during Ludmilla’s Coachella set, which represents an extremely important milestone for his career and further amplifies his status in the U.S. Now, he gears up to perform at the 2024 Latin American Music Awards in Las Vegas, ahead of the release of El Cantante Del Ghetto.
Recently highlighted as one of Rolling Stone’s Future 25 artists (HERE), Ryan Castro is the leading figure of Reggaeton hailing from Colombia. With more than 22 million monthly listeners on Spotify, he catapulted to international fame in 2021 with his hit single, “Mujeriego,” followed by “Jordan,” which both placed on Spotify’s Top 50 Global chart. Last year, Castro released “Quema” with Peso Pluma, making his debut on Billboard’s Hot 100 and landing on Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs chart, additionally spending several weeks on Spotify’s Top 200.
