Aug. 9, 2024 – Today, Nashville-based band Brother Elsey has shared their new single “Blameless Blue” via River House Artists. Produced by Drew Long (KALEO, Judah & The Lion), the soaring new song grapples with today’s fickle dating culture and arrives with a behind-the-scenes music video that showcases Brother Elsey’s electric on-stage performances.

“‘Blameless Blue’ is a song about rejection, and it was inspired by a ‘break up’ in the age of situationships,” says vocalist and guitarist Brady Stablein. “In the age of trash-fire situationship culture, it’s hard to feel justified when something romantic doesn’t work out the way you expected it to. It’s frustrating and eye-opening and a fairly new struggle our generation is dealing with. I was reading a lot of Stephen King at the time and he uses the term ‘blameless blue sky’ in several variations. My friend Jordan Mobley helped me piece it together after a bit of a block and then it all just fell into place.”
“Blameless Blue” follows the visceral “Bolt Cutter Eyes” and the anthemic Madi Diaz co-write
“Red Tape.” Other recent releases by Brother Elsey include the cinematic “Passing Through”, the dreamy “Babylon” and their transcendent 2021 EP, You Don’t Know Anything. This, along with intensive, self-booked tours, culminated in dates with acts like The Head and the Heart, Allen Stone, The Wallflowers, The War and Treaty, Boy Named Banjo and SUSTO. Their hard-earned grassroots growth has helped cultivate a loyal local following and set them up to make the leap from beloved Detroit act to the national scene. In March, the band showcased at SXSW for the premiere of the IFC film Dandelion, which they are featured in and includes an original score by The National’s Aaron Dessner.
This fall, Brother Elsey will embark on a headlining tour with stops in New York, Boston, Washington, D.C. and more cities – see here for a full list of dates. Comprised of siblings Brady Stablein (vocals and guitar), Beau Stablein (bass), and Jack Stablein (lead guitar), plus honorary kin Dalton Thomas (drums), Brother Elsey has forged a deep musical connection, built on sharp songcraft and pure Midwestern grit.
