As the metaphorical golden hour of 2024 draws near, NATI. has big news – a new single called ‘Golden’ is out now and a homonymous new EP will be released in March 2025 via NATI./OMG.
As with previous single ‘Heard It All Before’, ‘Golden’ was written with fellow Scot Prentice Robertson, however more challenging than the former, the new single was formed around one word: golden. Inspired by life’s simple pleasures like seeing family and friends, and warm(ish) days on the beach, the track is an ode to those close to NATI., and in a sense, a coping mechanism for when the clouds roll over. For NATI., ‘Golden’ was about overcoming her struggle with a work/life balance, and in essence simplifying life. This simplicity is what NATI. truly adores about ‘Golden’, after stripping demos back to their roots, and building the track back up with big guitars, explosive drums, and a charming oversaturation of sound.
“‘Golden’ is so simple and ultimately about friendship and feeling grounded yet it ties with the theme of healing so deeply that it had to be the title of the EP, ” NATI. added, as she employs her fans to “celebrate things that make you feel Golden.”
Along with the single comes an announcement of NATI.’s brand new EP of the same name. As noted by the artist herself, the overarching theme of Golden is healing and finding inner salvation. Compared to 2023’s debut EP Older, a coming of age riot teaming with all things ugly and beautiful that accompany navigating the world as an adult, Golden is the kiss goodnight, the cathartic tears and the sigh of relief. It’s about searching for the best version of oneself and cherishing, rather than longing. “Golden really is a healing EP and writing it was incredibly healing for me. I hope that others can find the same self preservation.”
Born and raised in Fife (Scotland, not Fife, Washington, USA), NATI. exploded onto the music scene, having amassed over 2 million followers across social media platforms. NATI.’s path took a transformative turn in 2022, when dreams became a reality, as she hit the road to support some of her favourite musicians, namely Tidelines, Newton Faulkner, and Simply Red. In 2023, she released her debut EP, Older, and embarked on a UK tour, adding two successful tours and numerous support slots to her repertoire. Her festival appearances have packed-out tents at TRNSMT, Belladrum, Kendal Calling, Skye Live, Tiree Music Festival, Beardy Folk, Cambridge Folk Festival, and Secret Garden Party . In support of Older, NATI. was invited to play BBC Quay sessions alongside Texas and sold out a show at Celtic Connections. Looking ahead, 2024 promises to be an exciting year for NATI. with a summer packed with festival appearances and exciting new shows, showcasing her infectious personality and memorable live shows.
