The alternative/punk rock sound of Jon Roger Band emerged in 2024, featuring vocalist Lucas Poltronieri, composer Carone Netto, and music producer and multi-instrumentalist “Cachalote”. The band’s name pays homage to two iconic musicians: David “Jon” Gilmour and George “Roger” Waters. This tribute mirrors the way Roger Keith (Syd Barrett) named Pink Floyd, drawing inspiration from two blues artists he admired, Pink Anderson and Floyd Council. The Jon Roger Band celebrates the union of these two legendary figures, honoring the legacy they left in the mid-80s through a fusion of captivating lyrics and enveloping melodies. While the Jon Roger Band does not seek to recreate the partnership between Roger Waters and David Gilmour—just as Pink Floyd never attempted to be Anderson and Council—the band aims to evoke the same drive that propels artists: the passion for their influences and the energy that creates new, distinct, yet equally inspiring works.
