Swedish songstress Mariam The Believer, known also for her mesmerising work with Wildbirds & Peacedrums, is set to captivate audiences once more with ‘A Heart’, another insight into her third studio album Breathing Techniques set to release October 4th via Repeat Until Death.

Building on the ethereal dreamscapes of recent releases ‘Tiny Animals’ and ‘Home,’ ‘A Heart’ continues Mariam The Believer’s exploration of air, breath, and space, a core concept that permeates her forthcoming album. Her distinctive, wistful vocals steer a sonic meditation, where rhythmic percussion, rich piano, and the seductive interplay of harp and violin invite listeners into the depths of her imagination as she explores the complexities of perception.

Mariam shares her inspiration for the track, stating, “‘A Heart’ is a meditation, a mantra. It’s about recognising that what we perceive is often just a fragment of a larger picture. There’s always more to discover within ourselves, in nature, and in our relationships.”

Mariam The Believer is the solo moniker of Mariam Wallentin, known also for her work with the dynamic duo Wildbirds & Peacedrums alongside her husband Andreas Werliin. Since her 2013 debut, ‘Blood Donation’, she’s been captivating audiences with an alchemy that fuses jazz, soul and classical elements with spiritual undercurrents. Her music is a boundless exploration, imbued with the same whimsical and quirky spirit that defines artists like Kate Bush and Björk

‘A Heart’ acts as our third insight into Mariam The Believer’s third studio album Breathing Techniques. Drawing inspiration from the likes of Nina Simone, Joni MitchellAlice Coltrane, Meredith Monk, Stina Nordenstam, Sheila Chandra, and Gal Costa, the upcoming LP is a tapestry woven from threads of spirituality, improvisation, and rhythmic exploration. Her haunting vocals, raw and honest, are the guiding star through a constellation of intimate yet powerful soundscapes. Tender harps, delicate strings, and playful synths intertwine with the ever-present drums that act as the beating heart throughout the album.
