Carla Aakre – Watercolor, Through

On her first full-length album, things i forgot to tell you, singer-songwriter Carla Aakre dives into the corners of her mind leading listeners through scenes of longing, doubt and delight. Observing things in the most delicate way, Aakre delivers captivating storytelling consisting of memories, desires and self-reflection. She uses her imagination as a versatile tool, seeking to expand her creative abilities and push boundaries for indie folk/pop music. By finding beauty in things around her, she absorbs inspiration from finite time, relationships, surroundings and existence.

While collaborating with her friend, producer/mixer Roni Ylhäinen, her music was influenced by the analog sounds as they recorded demos, many of which ended up as final takes on Roni’s 8 track multitracker. After completing the musical groundwork at his studio, they started working on string and horn arrangements led by Aakre’s sister Milla Käyhty.

The songs were written and composed in Aakre’s studio flat in Helsinki and at her family’s cottage in the southern Finland, where she feels most herself.
