Picking up buzz across the globe, rising 20-year-old Japanese-American singer and songwriter starfall shares a brand new single entitled “talk to me” out now via Soka Records/Mercury Records.

The track illuminates the dynamics of his innovative and inimitable signature style; however, it is sonically quite the departure from his usual, with a more pop-focused and upbeat sound. Energetic synths power up the soundscape of “talk to me.” A slick bass groove and head-nodding beat prime the song to light up any dancefloor. He grapples with relationship turbulence aloud, going on to plead, “Baby, won’t you talk to me?” In a moment of stark vulnerability, he eventually lets out a sigh, “I’m so sick of fighting.
 
talk to me” follows two breakthrough singles, “hero” and “intentions.” With a combined 26 million streams, adds on coveted Spotify editorial playlists such as tapioca and more, they continue to make waves worldwide. ”intentions” specifically, has garnered 25 million streams worldwide. Inspiring over 38K TikTok “creates, it’s yielded 335 million organic views with 46 million combined on his own Top 3 “intentions” TikTok posts. It reached the Top 15 of the Spotify Viral 50 in Philippines, Singapore, and Malaysia in addition to going #1 in Vietnam and Thailand. On Apple Music, it has held strong in the Top 10 of the Apple Music Top Songs Chart in Thailand and Top 10 of the Apple Music Pop Songs Chart in Thailand. Recently, starfall packed his first headline show at the Moroccan Lounge in Los Angeles. Next year, starfall will support 21st century superstar keshi on his “Requiem” Tour in arenas throughout North America. It rolls through major markets such as New York, NY, Boston, MA, Chicago, IL, and Philadelphia, PA.

Born and raised on the Hawaiian island of Oahu, starfall a.k.a. Richard Okomoto, grew up in a big family with five siblings. Despite the naturally warm demeanor of the local community, loneliness always followed Richard. Nevertheless, he found comfort in music. Throughout middle school, he combed the internet for inspiration, embracing everyone from Daniel Caesar, Bryson Tiller, and Rex Orange County to Monkey Majik and Gareth.T. At the age of fourteen, he grabbed a microphone and penned his own songs over YouTube beats. Under the name of starfall, he initially gained traction on Soundcloud with various early uploads. In 2021, he released his breakout track, “the truth.” In its wake, he generated millions of streams across “never lasts,” “missing u,” and “memories,” paving the way for his 2023 lose myself EP. “tied up” generated nearly 6 million Spotify streams followed by “drop dead” with nearly 3 million Spotify streams. In 2024, he accelerated this momentum on the alone tonight EP, including “intentions” and “burn my tongue.” Now, he kicks off his next chapter with a series of 2024 singles for Soka Records/Mercury Records, beginning with “hero.”
