Despite the naturally warm demeanor of the local community, loneliness always followed Richard. Nevertheless, he found comfort in music. Throughout middle school, he combed the internet for inspiration, embracing everyone from Daniel Caesar, Bryson Tiller, and Rex Orange County to Monkey Majik and Gareth.T. At the age of fourteen, he grabbed a microphone and penned his own songs over YouTube beats. Under the name of starfall, he initially gained traction on Soundcloud with various early uploads. In 2021, he released his breakout track, “the truth.” In its wake, he generated millions of streams across “never lasts,” “missing u,” and “memories,” paving the way for his 2023 lose myself EP. “tied up” generated nearly 6 million Spotify streams followed by “drop dead” with nearly 3 million Spotify streams.
