ACCLAIMED ACTOR BEN BARNES SHARES NEW SINGLE “NEVERMIND” TAKEN FROM THE UPCOMING DEBUT ALBUM ‘WHERE THE LIGHT GETS IN’ OUT 10TH JANUARY
On January 14th at McMenamins Crystal Ballroom in Portland, OR, acclaimed actor Ben Barnes (Westworld, The Chronicles of Narnia, The Punisher, The Picture of Dorian Gray) will bring his debut album, Where The Light Gets In—out January 10th via Kartel Music Group—to life.
With a combined social media reach of over 3.4M+ on Instagram & TikTok, Ben’s live performances are a must-see, drawing over 17,000 fans across 10 sold-out headline shows in the U.S., Europe, and the UK, at iconic venues like NYC’s Bowery Ballroom and LA’s Troubadour, & Hotel Café — stages that have hosted icons such as Adele, Hozier, Billie Eilish, and Elton John, and more.
Influenced by a mix of ’70s rock, Motown, and musical legends like Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles, and Queen, Ben’s love for music began in childhood, singing in choirs and performing tribute concerts for Sinatra and Stevie Wonder as a teen. While his acting career flourished, Ben continued songwriting, eventually embracing music fully during the pandemic when his singing videos gained viral attention.
With Where The Light Gets In —produced by Maroon 5’s James Valentine and Sam Farrar—Ben chronicles the stages of a relationship, from euphoric beginnings to heartbreak, nostalgia, and renewal. The record blends his two greatest passions: storytelling and performance
Recently, singer, songwriter and actor Ben Barnes releases his brand new single ‘Nevermind’. Showcasing a darker and more vulnerable sound, the track navigates anxiety and instances of being lost in deep thought. Listen to ‘Nevermind’ here. Watch the video here.
Ben speaks on the single, “‘Nevermind’ is a song about anxiety and the various ways to try to soothe that shaking feeling in your stomach that can’t be ignored. When all you can do is focus on breathing and the ground under you. It’s about the stories we tell ourselves, the beginnings we re-write, the endings we rose-tint and the fantasies we project before coming back to the truth, back to the ground you’re lying on.”
‘Nevermind’ follows previous single ‘Beloved’, an uplifting soul-pop anthem about allowing yourself to be loved for all that you are. Both tracks feature on Ben Barnes’s debut album ‘Where The Light Gets In’ released 10th January 2025 via Kartel Music Group. These songs showcase all Ben’s innate hopefulness and a perspective earned through lived experience. His personal hope for the record is that it encourages “clarity when life feels sombre, empowers you in the face of pain or vulnerability, and makes you feel lovable when the world tries to tell you that you’re not enough”. A lifelong music fanatic, Ben began writing songs and working with producers and musicians at the age of just 19, however due to his flourishing acting career, he had never been able to release material in the way he wanted. Forthcoming album Where The Light Gets In was recorded at Apogee Studios in Santa Monica with the band all in a room together, including James Valentine and Sam Farrar (Maroon 5) who also produced the record along with drummer/manager, Paul Hamilton.
Inspired by the soul and pop music he loves so much, the album is about the different stages of a relationship; beginnings, tension, sorrow, sex, love, endings, nostalgia. It’s about how our history and our scars configure to make us who we are in this moment. If a part of us has ever felt broken, we can mend…transforming ourselves into something more precious than we were before ….‘the cracks are where the light gets in’.
