Gracie Mauk invites listeners to embrace the pensive nostalgia of winter with her debut EP, Vol. 1, available on all streaming platforms this Friday, December 20th. Featuring four beautifully crafted tracks, including standout single “The Everlasting Spring,” this EP is a reflective journey through live instrumentals, sweetly raw vocals, and deeply thoughtful lyrics.
Vol. 1 showcases Mauk’s remarkable vocal range, moving effortlessly from higher, ethereal tones to lower, grounding depths. The live instrumentation lends the EP an organic warmth, perfectly paired with Mauk’s introspective songwriting. Each song captures the bittersweet emotions of winter—moments of longing, memory, and quiet beauty—making Vol. 1 the perfect soundtrack for pensive evenings and snow-dusted mornings.
“We recorded these songs live just like they did the 1970s,” says Mauk. “I hope listeners feel the love, warmth, and thoughtfulness in these tracks.”
The EP’s standout track, “The Everlasting Spring” explores themes about about death and the afterlife. In western culture, death is often associated with darkness and sorrow. But this song explores another perspective: perhaps we will roll around in the dirt for eternity and be joyful. Perhaps death is wonderful and beautiful.
“Vol I” is written and performed by Grace Mauk and features piano by Grace Mauk, bass by J. Ronquillo, drums by Brandon Benson, guitar by Nick Kiekenapp, and cello by Anthony Marchese. It was recorded and mixed at Bigfoot Studios and mastered by Paracute Mastering. With its thoughtful storytelling and emotional depth, Vol. 1 invites listeners to slow down, reminisce, and embrace the beauty of winter’s nostalgia. Gracie Mauk establishes herself as a compelling voice in the folk-pop scene, blending timeless musicality with contemporary introspection.
