Rain City Royalty Robert Deeble Explores ‘The Space Between Us’ for Upcoming Emotional Release

Robert Deeble is a supercool American aesthete working in Seattle. His recordings have been noted for their orchestrated arrangements and lyrical content. His seventh and latest endeavor The Space Between Us reflects on the relationships that become frayed in a partisan era with a deeper longing for connection.

The album is the result of a four year partnership with producer Ric Hordinski (Over the Rhine) who also contributed string arrangements and guitar work. The album also features contributions by bassist Viktor Krauss (Allison Krauss/Robert Plant), drummer Lacey Brown (Damien Jurado), Bill Mallone (Vigilantes of Love).

“The theme of the album emerged during the pandemic and throughout this deeply polarizing period of American politics” Robert says. And while the songs cover their own individual topics, Robert reflects that “collectively, they seemed to me to voice both a lament and the hope that we may turn from our idolatry of power towards a deeper strength in vulnerability.”

Robert teased The Space Between Us with a stand alone single (& video) of LOW cover: “(That’s How You Sing) Amazing Grace” earlier last year in memory of the late Mimi Parker.

Robert first received critical acclaim for his 1998 release Earthside Down and again with Heart Like Feathers (2012) which received regular rotation on XM Satellite’s The Loft. His last full-length BELOVED (2018) was a very personal account of the adoption of his daughter.

As a touring artist Robert has had the honor to share stages with Low, Ida, M Ward, Sam Phillips, Vigilantes of Love, Over the Rhine, Dave Bazan, Damien Jurado and Victoria Williams.

Robert’s first album was released in 1994 with folk heroine Victoria Williams. Subsequent recordings included music industry veterans such as Rachel Blumberg (The Decemberists), Viktor Krauss (Robert Plant), Anna-Lynn Williams (Trespassers William) and Stephen Hodges (Tom Waits/Mavis Staples).

Vinyl production is underway for the physical format release, with lacquers are being custom cut by Levi Steitz of Seattle. The cover artwork (being finalized now) is of course beautiful, as Robert’s albums usually are.

Robert has launched a 31 day Kickstarter campaign on March 1st for the initial vinyl/cd release to fan base. His digital world wide release will follow later in the year in the hope to to partner with an independent label in its release strategy.

The Kickstarter promotional video was shot by Todd Zeller; with Chris Colbert hosting the filming at his legendary studio National Freedom in Oregon.”

The vinyl, CD, Direct Download delivers to Robert’s fan base in May 2025.
