On Saturday April 5 I participated in one of 1300 protests across the US against the policies of one Donald Trump. I attended Seattle’s rally at Seattle’s Peace Fountain. This fountain has a concrete seat surrounding its 220 feet and people surrounded it ten deep it approximately ten deep. There were also at least two thousand spilling out into the area near the fountain. My guess is at least five thousand attended.

When I arrived at just past noon, Rep Pramilla Jayapal was speaking. She mentioned that Elon is slashing essential services while keeping in place the government agencies he profits from. She emphasized that America is not supposed to have a king and that democracies can fall within months. In the state of Washington 40 percent of jobs rely on international trade. The loss of these jobs would devastate the state’s economy.

The human rights violations of shipping immigrants to torture camps in Venezuela was mentioned. Intermittently during her speech, chants of hey, hey ho ho, Trump & Musk have got to go.

As I wandered about looking at signs, I came across a small group holding up cutouts of pigs and chanting, hands off, oink, oink. Other signs said, they’re eating the checks, they’re eating the balances, history repeats itself. Trump is Hitler number two and ICE is his Gestapo. Look it up, kids. A woman held a sign that said, I am a woman, not an incubator.

Three and a half million people showed up to protest all over the country today and not one person stormed a capitol building or attacked police officers.

More protests at Tesla dealerships are planned. Information can be found at defundmusk.com
