“Streaming Wraps Its Arms Around Sydney Rose’s New Sad Girl Hit” – Billboard
New York, NY (April 4th, 2025) – Emerging as an artist to watch in 2025, acclaimed Georgia-born and Nashville-based singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Sydney Rose shares her anxiously awaited new EP I Know What I Want out now via Mercury Records. Listen HERE.
To celebrate its arrival, she just shared the official music video for her breakthrough single “We Hug Now.” Watch HERE. The clip evokes the track’s hypnotic mood on-screen, illustrating a heart-wrenching narrative on girlhood and friendships. Sydney wanders through a quiet suburb, sings from the backseat of an old school eighties Sedan, surveys the aisles of a local grocery store, and watches her friends from the background as it seems they pass her by. It brings the spirit of the song to life in cinematic fashion with just the right amount of vintage grit.
Regarding the video, Sydney said, “Making this music video was literally watching my Pinterest board come to life. It perfectly encapsulates what this song feels to me. The feeling of being left behind and stuck while the other person lives out their life like nothing happened. It was an absolute pleasure working with director David O’Donohue alongside the crashbang crew to make this video. It’s easily become one of my favorite videos!”
I Know What I Want illuminates the scope of her artistry. Murmurs of soft piano make delicate waves just beneath the surface of the focus track “5 More Minutes.” Teeming with feeling, she processes the passage of time, “I got so old so fast, and I cannot go back.” The song affirms a level of empathy, perception, and wisdom that belies her age. “Dogs I Pass On The Street” pairs her vulnerable vocals with unfiltered acoustic guitar. She can’t hold back as she confesses, “When I call my mom, I just try to be discreet, crying over dogs I pass on the street.” Elsewhere, her voice pierces a haze of feedback on “Thank You For Trying” as she wrestles with complex emotions about love, “It’s the way you exist, the way that you kiss, makes me want to tell you I’m sorry.” On the piano-laden “Little Birds,” she paints a vivid picture and offers a moment of reprieve with a bit of wisdom, “Go and change your perfume, you gotta let go of that version of you...listen to the birds.”

In support of the EP, Sydney will embark on the I Know What I WantTour, which marks her first ever headline tour. The North American segment kicks off on June 9 at Masonic Lodge in Los Angeles, CA, visits a handful of major markets, and concludes on June 17 at Baby’s All Right in Brooklyn, NY before bringing her to Europe. Following dates in Paris, Amsterdam, and Berlin, she caps off this run by joining the lineup of BST Hyde Park in London on July 4th with headliner Noah Kahan and special guest Gracie Abrams. She appears on this all-star bill with FINNEAS, Gigi Perez, Paris Paloma, Hazlett, Jo Hill, Sebastian Schub, Kevin Atwater, Lily Fitts, and more.

Georgia-born and Nashville-based singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Sydney Rose writes songs for those moments.
