The Vaccines “I Always Knew” is a musical throwback to sixties psychedelia. Lyrically there’s not much here that’s original. Two people who are in love but can’t quite connect as intimately as they both seem to want. Yeah, been there, heard that. The song is pleasant, though. Twangy guitars and a catchy tune, it sounded like a combination of the sixties folk bands like the Mamas & Papas along with a heavy dose of psychedelia. The video itself is rather boring. Two people, boy and girl spinning around on a fair ride together, having fun, but nothing real romantic. Yeah, I get the symbolism. Nothing too deep, which is okay. That isn’t the intent. So summing this up, I like the song and I’d listten to it again. The video isn’t worth watching again, though.
