I have to go to sleep early but thankfully I have an incredible sleep aid:
British lectures from Gresham College.
Gresham died in 1597 and left behind enough money to fund lectures in London until London ceases to be inhabitable. As long as there is a Bank of England, Gresham’s lecture circuit lives on ad naseum.
The world of camcorders and now the interwebs, has brought the world of uber heady & ultra specific British lectures into your home, right through your non rotary carcinogen producing future phone.
Ted Talks were conceived in 1984. Sir Thomas Gresham death 387 years prior gave birth to these talks, which I doubt I would have discovered in any previous era.
I love the lectures, I really do. Added bonus?
They put me to sleep. The little coughs and a bit of stentorial wheezing; the rustling of dress shoes and wool jackets; the staid British accent of the lecturer.
Words like “hitherto” or “perfuntory” are gold nuggets which have led me to the riches of REM sleep.
A Gresham College lecturer is exact opposite of a Southern Black preacher in terms of execution and effect. These lectures are so dry I have fall asleep listening to them covered head to toe in lip balm.
So before you get addicted to sleeping pills consider trying…

Plastic From Potatoes, Rubber from Rice?
The only one that kept me up till the climax and ruined my dreams of a night’s rest was this ripping yarn about the battle of Waterloo. I don’t want to be a spoiler but Wellington did not actually lead a British force per say. You’ll just listen and on the edge of your bed, strapped to your C-Pap.
Waterloo: Causes, Courses, and Consequences:
Someday after I get my Masters from The University of West London, with the assistance of my Dear Watson, AKA Sir Lewis Harding, I am going to try and score a guest appearance as a Gresham College Lecturer. If I do it right, I’ll fall asleep at the lecturn.
Fascinaaa….ting…stuff…zzzzzzzz
