APOLOGIES IF A VIDEO ISN’T AVAILABLE IN YOUR COUNTRY

1 Rose City Band – Rivers of Mind  (65)

A band that sounds like a Pilooski edit of a really rare late 60’s long lost desert psychedelic classic. What better new song could we have head the chart a day after we learn that Roky has gone. Roky is here, Roky is there, Roky is everywhere.

2  Dean & Britta – Singer Sing  (14)

Ex Galaxie 500 bods give us more of that gentle side of the Velvets sound. It never gets stale. Well, not here at BOP HQ.

3  Gianni Oddi – Waycombe  (24)

Early 70’s piece by Italian film composer that sounds very much to us like the sort of neu jazz sounds coming out of London at the moment. Cool track.

4  Gary Gritness – The Hitlist  (32)

I like Gary becuase on his album, The Legend of Cherenkov Blue, I can’t really describe what he does. Part DJ Shadoe, Part Kid Koala with Seth Troxler and even Aphex Twin in the mix. It’s different, therefore it’s good. That’s how we roll at BOP.

5  Electric Funeral – My Destiny (122)

Electric Funeral were a  Swiss hard-rock band who sadly never registered any studio recordings at the time. Formed in the late 60s by Edi Hirt (drums), Pierrot Wermeille (bass), Alain Christinaz (guitar) and Dominique Bourquin (vocals), they were influenced by bands like Deep Purple, Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin. Famous for their loud (they played behind giant stacks of Marshall amps) and powerful shows, their sound was too heavy-sounding for a regular label to offer them a contract. So sayeth You Tube. we need add no more except to say excellent proto heavy rock

6  Erasers – Pass You In The Night (186)

New album just out from the mighty Erasers from Perth. If you like that Modern Nature release on Bella Union, you’ll love Erasers. They’ve honed the sound over the last decade.

7  The Rantauls – Chug A Lug  (222)

Great garagey tune that if they’d been around in the 70’s would have secured them a shot on the Banana Splits show ( kids you’ll have to look B Splits up)

8  Mush – Operation Vaken (577)

Jerky post punk stuff with great lo fi video with them all looking a bit bored. Obviously they had a mate who let them use his pub for the shoot. Future classic, who knows?

9 Hard Rock – Jah Send Rain (626)

NSW has officially been in drought for two years now and this weekend serious water restrictions have hit Sydney. Will Sydney be like Cape Town soon… so let’s chuck this tune on and hope Jah is listening.

10  Noisy Humans – Oh No Sco Mo  (741)

Australia just had a general election and the general unwashed, in their wisdom, have returned an absolute cock to run the country. He loves a bit of evangelical church action, hates refugees and doesn’t really give a toss about climate change . So there you go.

We have here a delicious anti record shop release by nobody less than the Bordellos. Thank you The Bordellos! You are life savers!
YEAH I KNOW IT SUCKS

The Bordellos are making some of the best pop music I’ve heard, it’s just they’re doing it in such a wilfully obscure way you’ll never hear it.

Because as we know, there are known knowns; there are things we know we know.

We also know there are known unknowns; that is to say we know there are some things we do not know.

But there are also unknown unknowns – the ones we don’t know we don’t know.
