After many years living in Japan and working as a songwriter for the charts Joakim Björnberg (lodet) has now moved back to Stockholm. During his later years in Japan another type of songwriting took place, that of his own.
With an outstanding sense of pop melodies and turns, lodet offers songs that fly over the mountains and seas. Cracked from a 70’s tradition, this contemporary flower power act finally makes its debut with the single “Calling” which is the first of many to wait from the pilot in the future.
”lodet was initially just the name of my kindergarten in Trollhättan where I grew up,” says Björnberg. “I loved ’Lodet’. It’s the place where i stood in sandy galon pants looking out through from the fence, where I fell in love for the first time and where I had my first appearance. Me and my friend Daniel played ‘Can’t Explain’ by The Who with the help of my dad’s cassette recording.”
“Daniel played drums on pillows and I played guitar and sang in a microphone that gave me electrical shocks. It’s the place where I decided that I loved the image of myself as an entertainer, frontman and guitarist. I was six years old. I’m writing as if this was my biography? Maybe that’s nice. I’ve always been bad at writing. Still is. I’d rather use my hands to build something. I love using tools to build stuff. I’ve built an outdoor gym once. Love to clean as well. The music come so easily. Text however – it’s so important but the thing scares me. Getting things done also worries me. I often get bored and move one before things are done. I require deadlines or else I just drink coffee.”
“Since January I’ve been living in a big house. There’s lots of birds here and in me there is a small bird watcher who now seems to have come to life. Suits me. In the basement I’ve started to build a studio. I thunk the nature around will have a calming effect on the music.”
