APOLOGIES IF A VIDEO ISN’T AVAILABLE IN YOUR COUNTRY
1 The Bordellos – Going Out Tonight (5)
They never fail to amaze. More JAMC than Psychocandy but with added “x” factor and Hendrixms too….& without much studio tomfoolery either. They probably knocked it up in 20 minutes ! Amazing band.
2 Guidon Bear – Washing Machine (16)
She lives inside a washing machine and what’s even better i think it’s the launderette next to Tom’s Diner. Very enjoyable.
3 David Madden & Passeiros- Idi Amin (28)
Mid 70’s rhythm updated from King Tubby about the most unpleasant man in African politics at the time.
4 The Balek Band – Tometsi (44)
Six & a half minutes of gentle balearic sunshine that works for us. The 12″ is a 4 tracker and this is the tune we’re enjoying the most.
5 Gasper Lawal – Ajomasé (67)
I still remember heading up the hill to the world stage at Gastonbury back in 87. All around were artists from around the world looking very comfortable in the ensuing chaos. As i reached the stage late afternoon, Gaspar Lawal and his band came on and the next hour and half literally changed my understanding of what music could be. Still one of the best things i’ve ever seen.
6. French Vanilla – Suddenly (100)
Nice piece of dancefloor funk punk for now. If you like yer ESG and pore over no wave comps put out by Soul Jazz you’ll probably be quite keen on this. Remember, The Rapture or Melbourne’s fab No Zu..
7 J MacFarlane’s Reality Guest – Do You Like What I’m Sayin’ (115)
Getting very fond of this little earworm. It’s like the XX went on holiday took loads of E’s and actually enjoyed themselves and didn’t have a massive serotonin comedown with associated damaged relationships!
8. The Pheromoans – The Lister (163)
Wreckless Eric guesting on the Damned’s Black Album is my first thought. Who knows, but worth a listen and having listened to their catalogue we like the fact that none of their songs really sound the same, we just thought this one was fun to highlight.
9 KoKoKo! – Tokoliana (290)
Don’t know anything about this except for the fact that I love it. African feel with cowbell, Berlin & London thrown in too. If it isn’t released on Honst Jon’s it should be
10 Abdel Ali Slimani – Mraya (Dub) (318)
Lesser known Jah Wobble dub of a collaboration between Abdel Ali Slimani and Sinéad O’Connor. Mraya is a blending of eastern and western musical worlds, with Algerian Raï roots finding solid ground in downtempo trance-like grooves. So so good.

GRAHAM DOMAIN
LOVE & SADNESS . EP
There is something strangely magical about the weirdness of the musical world Graham Domain lives; a throwback to the days of the 80s when Japan and Black skirted around the regions of the hit parade; a soothing charade of yesterdays bedsit clothes and art school glamour songs to lose yourself in; to bathe in the afterglow of a pure sadness; an LP to soundtrack falling in and out of love to and an LP to fall in love with.
