I didn’t realize how garbage the state of popular rap and music in general was until I heard the so called hits they are using over the PA at the Hawks game.
It is indefensible. The bar is so low for music that the #1 Country hit of our generation was a beat some kid with a pretty good hook bought off YouTube for almost nothing.
That’s not a Cinderella story. That’s an indictment of our TIME. Good on ya’ Lil Naz X. He seems like a good kid and he’s working hard.
But if you aren’t seeing the decline of Western Civilization and this a canary in the Coal Mine good luck.
I’m pro Hip Hop. Hooray for the success of Black artists. But the Golden Age is over. There has always been novelty songs. Put the Sugar in her Bowl, whoop there it is.
But we are in some Dystopian nightmare where my first Staxx album cover and Free Your Mind video got flagged for Community Standards, which means if social media is our meeting place we are living in a f☆cking uptight Northern Utah Kindergarten class and the rap sucks.
We are living in such a weird time. Everyone around me is just adapting, but there are times you need to fight adapting and REBEL.
Music is a canary. And we are trapped in a coal mine.
Music is a reflection it always has been. The music we listened to in the 90s is problematic they would tell us. NWA is not PC. But at least Easy E had a f☆cking amazing ghost writer. Biz Marky did too.
Hip Hop was an illustration of the pursuit of Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness in ways that made Sex Drugs & Rock & Roll seem dated. Now the idea of making money making music sounds dated and the game is over.
Because now that nobody is buying records and you pay to play anyway, nobody getting through is much trying.
And nobody out there to call this out because we’re all dick riding a culture where followers are more important than if you have anything worth following.
It’s just a pie hole we shove pretty decent content down the gullet of Billionaires who sh☆t more billions and give us bigger leases on less impressive phones with better cameras. But the cameras are only getting better because we are only here to provide them with better pictures.
I don’t even know if I can rap bad enough for the Top 40. I need a bad ghostwriter and lower production value.
Also I need a trust fund. This is the era where a Rich Kid could convince us he is Elvis. Which is what the Kardashians have done, and they didn’t even have to ride a beat.
Back to practicing guitar.
