Earlier this year I had the pleasure to interview the Swiss artist Veronica Fusaro for East Portland Blog. In that interview we talked about her journey, her music, touring, writing and her upcoming EP „SUNKISSED“. I have been looking forward to listen to that EP ever since and now it’s out! I just listened to it five times in a row and am ready to write about how great it is.
The whole EP has the characteristic dreamy laid back feeling that makes us recognize Veronica. Her beautiful vocals draw us in to hear the stories she tells through the songs, taking us on an emotional rollercoaster. Listening to „SUNKISSED“ kind of feels like a late summer day on the beach, while talking about all the great moments you had this summer. It is a little melancholic and yet happy – afterwards you have a smile on your lips and a bittersweet feeling in your soul.
The three singles she released up front are the more upbeat songs on the EP. „lie to me“, „rollercoaster“ and „run my mind“ all have haunting melodies and a very „summerly“ feeling.The two new songs we get to listen to with the release of the EP „hello old friend“ and „all I ever wanted“ are a bit more downbeat and melancholic. If I had to pick a favorite song – which is very very hard – it would be „hello old friend“. This is such an emotional and beautiful song that combines a touching story with that kind of honesty that hits you right into the heart.
The EP has great melodies, a great production, stunning vocals and the perfect feeling to sit down and let your summer run through your mind one last time while the leaves start to fall. Once again Veronica combines soul and pop perfectly and creates her own sound.
