APOLOGIES IF A VIDEO ISN’T AVAILABLE IN YOUR COUNTRY
1 Jumping Goat – How Can You Easily Believe (46)
New out of Beijing on Maybe Mars records. New band and great Beijing rock sound. You have to be impressed these days by any band operating out of that city / country.
2 Native Indian – Singularity (48)
Indian rapper Siva Baskaran. aka Native Indian has a sound that we reckon is influenced by Kool Keith and Massive Attack equally. Really enjoying this.
3 Elijah – I Hope the Goats Come Back (feat. Lansied Nechdelani) (“Ze-Hood De-Sham Lichdal”) (56)
We’re spoiling you. Two goat references in one chart ! This one has a lovely old school dub shuffle and lets us drift drift drift. The cover is so good we had to include it
4 Gong Gong Gong – Blues (82)
Another Beijing band who are really exciting us a lot at the moment. Their debut is a killer with not one dud track on it. We could have chosen any song, we chose this one. Get onto this band now, we reckon they could be huge.
5 Erasers – Heavy Words (160)
Latest release by Perth based Erasers. Back in the day we released a record by this lot and i have to say i’m glad they are carrying on making music on their own terms. They have a sound that nobody else has and i hope one day more people pay attention.
6 Yung Raj – Super Troopa (168)
Experimental beats out of India on a dub theme released April this year. Strangely addictive and another great cover
7 Julian Cope – Sandoz (254)
And Julian goes dub too ! “Futuristic…Hydroponic” he says and who are we to disagree. Can’t wait to see him for the first time in decades at the Barbican in February
8 Koichi Sakai – Wono Yoruba (Soul Mix) (282)
Track of the week.Stands alone , beautifully clean production that just build and builds into Yorba musical heaven. Can’t get enough of this tune.
9 Juana Molina – Paraguay Punk (425)
I’m now officially a Paraguayan punk if it all sounds like this . Very cool indeed.
10 Anunaku – Temples (660)
And yet more electronic dub goodness with some reverbed toasting, nothing makes us happier. This time from a just released 12″ on Whities label . A great way to finish a BOP chart that’s very dub heavy this week.
