Kima Otung describes herself as “a Nigeria-born, Wales-raised, East London-based contemporary R&B and Neo Soul” singer. “I pretty much write my music for women,” she says, “to help us level-up and demand more from the people around us and ourselves.”
“I was reflecting on what home means to me when I wrote this song,” she says. “The concept of home has been such a huuuge focus this year, it has mainly been defined as the four walls we’ve had to stay within, but so many people don’t have any safe place at all. It’s sooo easy to fall on hard times no matter how hard working you are or even if you do everything “right”. I grew up far from rich, and my family definitely struggled in the early years. The issue of homelessness is less visible right now because we are indoors so much but it’s still there, so I wanted to shine more of a light on it.”
