Critically acclaimed trailblazer UPSAHL channels the energy of a woman scorned with her latest fiery single “Lunatic,” out today. The song, which is a thumping pop driven anthem that screams bad b*tch energy, is a highlight off her upcoming debut album coming soon.
On the release, UPSAHL shared, “The day I wrote Lunatic, I was having such a sh*t day that I almost didn’t show up to the studio… I ended up going in pajamas, no makeup, angry as fuck at the world. I walked into the studio and started venting about the whole situation to Jonny and Will (co-writers), and I just kind of ended up going into the vocal booth and screaming into the mic. I feel like people are so scared of being the “crazy ex,” but sometimes you kind of just want to go fucking crazy. This song is owning that.”
UPSAHL‘s next album, Lady Jesus,’ will be out October 8 on Arista Records. The expansive project traverses pop-punk, rock and dance with bass-driven melodies seasoned with nostalgia, and still emerges a cohesive portrait of 20-something disappointment and derision. Lady Jesus is Taylor’s saving grace, and UPSAHL’s resurrection.

“Lady Jesus is an energy — a way of life,” says UPSAHL. “Lady Jesus is unbothered, fiercely independent, and generally, a badass. Lady Jesus can be dressed to the nines, the life of the party, or can be chilling in sweatpants, hanging with friends. Lady Jesus can be anybody.“
In celebration of this highly anticipated debut album from rising star UPSAHL, she will host a live performance and event at the oldest church in Los Angeles, Pico Union Project at 9pm PT. The intimate, yet all-encompasing evening will feature UPSAHL and her three-piece band with a full performance of the entire album, the only time UPSAHL will be playing the album through front to back. Fans can tune into the livestream on UPSAHL’s YouTube channel HERE.
