Mexican-American songstress, Alaina Castillo, releases highly anticipated single + video “sad girls always finish first” via Chosen People/AWAL today. The record, which was produced by longtime collaborator and Grammy-nominated producer, RØMANS (Ella Mai, Khalid, Disclosure, etc.), marks the beginning of a new sad girl era for Alaina. The track is being featured in ‘NOW 82 What’s Next’ section alongside Jessie Murph, Blessing, and Eddie Benjamin.
“’sad girls always finish first’ is a song about acknowledging the feelings that one would normally hide just to fake a smile and act like it’s all okay. it’s a song about self-sabotage and manic thoughts that get turned into moments of confidence that help us realize we’re all a little messed up and that’s perfectly fine,” explains, Alaina.
The video was directed by Jake Johnston (Maggie Lindemann, LØLØ, With Confidence, Sofia Carson) and shot in Los Angeles, CA. The melancholy visuals take us through a series of dark and moody scenes giving us all the feels! Watch the video below.
