Leonie Prater is an independent artist based in Dorset in south-west England. Since the release of her debut album, Metamorphosis, last year, Leonie Prater’s music has taken a different direction, and she has been writing new songs for her upcoming sophomore album. One of these songs is her brand-new single, “Obstacles”, which is out now.
The stunning track showcases Leonie’s raw, innate talent, with her powerfully emotive vocals and striking lyricism on full display. Arguably her most impressive release to date, the track will surely help continue Leonie’s rise, and it whets the appetite for what’s to come on the rest of the album. Starting off with just the guitar, the track builds throughout before culminating in a full-on indie-pop explosion, which makes for a fascinating listen.
Speaking further on the new release, Leonie says, “The song is about a person who is captured in their own mind. The person can’t escape their thoughts and feels trapped in a labyrinth/maze. The only wish is to be free and break out and to find rest and peace within these battles. I wrote this song within 30 minutes at 2am in the morning, as I couldn’t sleep and had all those ideas in my mind.” “Obstacles” is available to buy/stream now on all platforms: https://ditto.fm/obstacles-leonie-prater.
