Rising pop/R&B star Piper Page’s new track “Breadcrumbs,” the lead single from her debut album Based on True Events, is out now. The song tells the story of a game of phone tag with the ex that you never really dated.
It’s the back-and-forth every couple of months with someone you’re not completely over—and isn’t over you. For one reason or another, neither of you wants to commit to the other, so you connect through infrequent DMs.
In explaining the song, Piper says, “I wanted the relationship to be mutual and conversational because breadcrumbing isn’t always one-sided. We’re saying to each other, ‘Hey, I know it’s been three months, but do you wanna fill the space in my head for tonight?’ It’s toxic, and probably bad for both of you, but it’s honest.”
