Visionary Portland Eclecticists, Living Pictures, Start Crossing the Bridge

New Portland & DC based electronic music project Living Pictures is excited to announce their debut album Crossing the Bridge.  Inspired by the work and approach of artists like Brian Eno, Nils Frahm, Kraftwerk, Aphex Twin, Johnny Jewel, Nick Cave & Warren Ellis, the album is a story that follows a person traversing the highs and lows of transitioning from one stage of life to another. The journey begins with a pair of headphones and entering the subway at night.

Through nine episodes corresponding to a different place and set of imagery, the album follows this person through their dreams as the train rattles down a mysterious tunnel, a strange, psychological tunnel not shown on the map. The train guides the listener through nine different states, spanning from nostalgia, disbelief, relief, pain to joy.

Four singles have been released including The Sleepwalker featured on Rivulets & Reveries / Bentonville Radio and Radio Ambient 24, Biodome on Ambient Memory / Radio Graf’hit, as well as Persistent Dreams of which SBS Radio Downtempo Chill featured as #1.

“The music that I started was music the way I wanted to make music, a small act of resistance against regimented creative office culture. I wrote them all for an audience of one, maybe a couple people. It was exciting collaborating with Andrew during the pandemic and putting these tracks together into a thoughtful journey. Releasing the album now for us also mirrors that pandemic experience a bit – emerging from isolation with raggedy confidence to just go for it.” – Reif Larsen

“My preferred listening form will always still be an album. So when Reif began sharing individual tracks and stories with me around the beginning of the pandemic, it was a goal to try to connect them all into a larger, cinematic journey. It’s been a thrill for both of us releasing singles and edits the last few months, but we are just grateful to get a full album out there. People should and will listen to music how they want. But we hope this more complete form resonates in some way.” – Andrew Perreault
