With a mischievous curiosity akin to a group of neighbourhood kids from a Stephen King novel, Bealby Point spent their youth roaming through the sprawling suburbs of Deep Cove, a coastal neighbourhood in North Vancouver, British Columbia, not Washington.
“Coded Personalities” is inspired by the struggles that come with communication in a relationship. The song follows the story of a summer crush and the desperation in trying to to be liked and disguising one’s true intentions to avoid being the first to admit their feelings.
The title of the song is a reference to the Myers-Briggs personality test which is essentially a quiz that assigns you a combination of letters which make up your personality type. There seems to be a tendency with this test which enables people to rely on their personality type to help them find out who they are as opposed to discovering who they are through honest, authentic communication in their own lives.
