Grammy, Golden Globe and Academy Award winning singer, songwriter and composer Andrew Wyatt returns with his first new single as a solo artist in a decade, “Beyond The Pale”, out now on Think Think Think Records / Lowly. While the multi-hyphenate has stayed in high demand crafting hits with the biggest names in pop music (Dua, Miley, Charli, Lykke) and soundtracking + scoring blockbuster films including this summer’s most exciting cinematic release Barbie, it was a combination of a global pandemic and the disintegration of a long term romantic relationship that became the impetus for Wyatt to finally pick up the pen again for personal reasons. “Beyond the Pale” is a breakup song about memories and regrets of failed love. But those feelings can also act as a powerful energy fueling transformation and pushing the confines of reality.
Along with the single today comes the perfectly suited visual; a glossy, saturated, high production video shot in Poland and directed by Sebastian Mlynarski that explores the outer limits of an all-consuming relationship and the volatile downward spiral that ensues. “Beyond The Pale” is an expression for behavior that’s no longer acceptable and that’s clearly the case here as Wyatt and his muse ride through fire and storm, an epic analogy that emphasizes Wyatt’s effortless driver’s seat swagger as he ponders how they got there in the first place “Light a fuse, cause then there’s nothing left to lose. Don’t look surprised when it’s Tick, Tick.. Boom! Why did we have to light the fuse” Watch the video for “Beyond The Pale” and stream HERE
Wyatt tells Variety, “For the “Beyond the Pale” music video, I always knew that we were going to play with a representation of what was real and what was fake. The memories of past lovers don’t actually have the power to haunt us on their own. We are the ones who set these projections in motion as if we wanted to take a ride through them and break beyond our emotional limits.”
“Beyond The Pale” is the first single from Wyatt’s just announced new album, Some Day It Won’t Feel Like Dying, a deeply intimate and personal reflection that takes on the demise of love as its main topic. Here Wyatt expertly crafts a sonic space that allows him to simultaneously mourn loss and reclaim his sense of self. Ranging in sound and inspiration, Some Day It Won’t Feel Like Dying touches on many stages of grief, with pulsing rock ballads and soaring pop melodies as the backdrop.
Recognized for his prolific and sonically fluid oeuvre, the NYC native’s songwriting and production contributions have secured Wyatt’s status as a generational talent. An awards season sweeper, Wyatt earned widespread exaltation for co-penning the multi-Platinum masterpiece “Shallow”, performed by Lady Gaga for the hit remake, A Star Is Born. As a songwriter/producer, Wyatt has become a go-to for alt-pop stalwarts like Dua Lipa, Miley Cyrus, Charli XCX, Caroline Polacheck, Flume, Lorde, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Florence And The Machine, Liam Gallagher and Bruno Mars… to name a few. Wyatt’s credits also include being one-half of the duo liv with Lykki Li and the frontman and lead songwriter of the indie-pop supergroup behind “Animal,” Miike Snow. With his forthcoming solo project, Someday It Won’t Feel Like Dying, Wyatt reemerges as an auspicious standalone artist poised to embark on another historic era.
