New York, NY- Ecuadorian singer-songwriter Maga Córdova, has released her latest single “Reloj De Arena” available now across digital platforms everywhere. The accompanying music video of the single was also released today. The budding young artist has already captivated audiences across Ecuador and has supported musical icons on stage including Luis Miguel, Sebastián Yatra, Exa, and Mora.
In a time when Ecuador’s output of global musical talent has been limited, Maga’s arrival into the global music scene could not have come at a better time. Maga first captured hearts in 2016 with her remarkable journey on the second season of “La Voz Ecuador.” Since then, her musical prowess has only blossomed, culminating in songs like “No Me dejes Sola,” which took the airwaves by storm upon its release in 2018. With subsequent successes such as “Error Tras Error,” “Te Lo Busaste,” and “Amor Camuflado,” Maga’s unique blend of heartfelt storytelling and captivating melodies has solidified her status as a true artist to watch.
Over the years, Maga has joined creative forces with renowned singer-songwriters and producers, including Latin Grammy Winner Felipe Nabalez, Stefano Vieni, and Latin Grammy nominee Homero Gallardo. In 2021, she released “Cuando Nos Encontremos,” a collaboration with Colombian actress and singer Martina La Peligrosa.
“Reloj De Arena” is more than just a new single—it signifies a beautiful evolution in Maga’s artistic journey. About the song, Maga said, “Reloj De Arena” isn’t just about waiting; it’s about the ache, the anticipation, and the desire that builds up in every passing moment. It’s about finding strength in that yearning and the sweet agony of knowing that, someday, we’ll be together again”. The song, co-written by Maga and Jaime Velazquez, boasts a depth of emotion that resonates deeply with listeners. Produced by the talented Jorge Nehme and Jaime Velazquez, the track blends Maga’s strong vocals and pop freshness with a musical production that leans towards artistic expression. The music video was directed by Pamela Dueñas Wood.
“Creating “Reloj De Arena” was a powerful experience for me. It felt like a moment of empowerment, a reminder of my journey back to a healthier place in life, and a reconnection with my love for music. The song is about connection, and yearning to be back in the arms of someone you care about deeply”, said Maga.
After her initial music success in Ecuador, Maga experienced her own personal setbacks coming out of an unhealthy relationship which forced her to take a short hiatus from music. These experiences have shaped Maga into the woman that she is today who now aims to be an example for others who struggle to realize their self-worth and value. Empowerment and connection are two words that Maga aims to live by as she embarks on the next chapter of her musical career.
With close to 100K devoted followers across various social media platforms and a staggering 10 MILLION views on her YouTube channel, Maga’s influence continues to grow exponentially. As “Reloj De Arena” prepares to take center stage, Maga said, “Everyone’s path is unique, and the time it takes to reach certain milestones varies for each individual. This song captures another version of myself, a healthier one, telling me ‘I’m coming, wait for me.’ It’s a beautiful representation of my personal growth and the excitement I feel as I continue on this artistic journey”.
