New York, NY – November 3, 2023: On the verge of a mainstream breakthrough worldwide, rapidly rising UK visionary artist and alt pop trailblazer Sam Tompkins uncovers a gripping new single entitled “Someone Else” out now via Republic Records.
Listen to “Someone Else” Here.
On the song Sam said: “‘Someone Else’ is more of a concept song than an experience I have personally felt. Being in love with someone who’s in love with someone else is a feeling that I’m sure quite a few have felt, but I think I liked the idea of it going on and on. (You’re in love with someone else, who’s in love with someone else, who’s in love with someone else etc.) after lose it all was released, I wanted to create something that felt as powerful as that. I’m really proud of this song and think I’m excited for everyone to finally hear it.”
Sam initially teased “Someone Else” with a viral social media snippet, gathering 2 million views and inciting anticipation for the track. Meeting demand head-on, he delivers a dynamic anthem punctuated by stark emotion. Somber piano underlines his reflective verses as he ponders the end of a relationship. The chorus cuts deep as he sighs, “You’re in love with someone else, who’s in love with someone else,” only to realize, “It ain’t worth it, putting up with all that’s far from perfect.”
Stay tuned for a cinematic music video to accompany the track.
It landed in the wake of “Time Will Fly.” Thus far, it has reeled in north of 2.3 million Spotify streams and over 500K YouTube views on the music video. In addition to looks from Bong Mines Entertainment, 360 Magazine, and more, Variance praised, “Listening to the track, it’s only further evidence of why Tompkins continues to climb the music rankings and is steadily one of our favorites as he has been teasing his upcoming debut album.”
Sam just closed out a sold out headline tour across North America. During the L.A. stop, he welcomed legendary filmmaker Guy Ritchie as well as Justin and Hailey Bieber backstage. Britney Broski went as far as to post on social media, “one of the most soulful, bluesy, old soul voices I’ve ever heard.”
Plus, he delivered a standout performance of “Lose It All” on CBS New York earlier this fall.
Originally recorded in LA and reworked to accompany his recent Hammersmith Apollo headline show announcement video; “Time Will Fly” received an outpouring of love from fans and artists alike including Raye, Timbaland, Logic, Ty Dolla Sign, Berwyn, Justin Bieber, and many more. Charting Sam’s rise from a 16 year old busking on the streets of Brighton to cementing his reputation as one of the fastest rising British male artists with his own headline show at the prestigious Hammersmith Apollo; the video has received millions of views and comments and trended on TikTok. Beyond plugs from Variance and more, Clash raved, “A plea from the heart, it finds Sam Tompkins at his boldest, and most open – a song about mental health, self-worth, and bad relationships, it finds the songwriter asking to be seen, for his feelings to have value.”
