Taylon’s hope is that the song “Picket Fence” will bring reassurance that true love is really out there and the wait to find it will be worth it. She grew up watching her grandparents work on their farm together, and there was a huge white picket fence around the farm which was an inspiration for the vision of the song. Taylon dreams of having a farm someday and building a similar picket fence with that special person. She knows whoever he is someday, he will be worth the wait. Her wish is that listeners will feel the same, whether they’ve already found that love or dream of it.

“To me, ‘Picket Fence’ is a beautiful love story about finally finding your soulmate and knowing you are going to build a life with them,” expressed Taylon Hope. “There are so many songs out there about breakups and heartache that I wanted to write about when things actually go right, and you do find true love, the kind that lasts forever. I love writing with Lance Carpenter, as we both get each other and country music. We both really love this song, as we feel it’s a song that when you sing it, you can just see the story happening right before you.”

“Taylon is a talent that is well beyond her years. She’s been putting in the work from a young age and has learned to use her voice, which is an incredible instrument, to near-perfection,” shared co-writer Lance Carpenter. “I had such a great time writing ‘Picket Fence’ with her and can’t wait for everyone to hear it.”

Producer Smith Curry stated, “Working with such a bright talent as Taylon is always a joy and a pleasure. Can’t wait to see what this fantastic song does.”

Taylon Hope added, “With the music video I did for ‘Picket Fence’ I had such a great time shooting it. It was country like me, with the farm, barns and horses. It reminded me so much of my roots back in North Carolina where I grew up. It speaks to a lot of things that I love and value, such as God, my faith, a white farmhouse, long dirt roads, family and finding your best friend and soulmate one day. I wanted to capture the details in this video of dreaming about your future when you find your forever person. There are so many breakup songs out there now, so we wanted to write a beautiful song about when it does work and a couple finds something real. Our society is different now. I’m not sure relationships are valued, but they are to me. They don’t call me a mini Vince Gill during rounds for nothing lol! I am always down for a beautiful ballad that tells the story. I feel the video portrays a very dreamy and whimsical fall day on the farm which I love. That is somewhere I would want to be.”

“White farm house on the edge of town
That’s where you grew up
Sitting on your back porch watching the sun go down
First time our hands touch
I knew we were meant for more than friends

I want your time
I wanna hold your hand
An long dirt road to our own piece of land
And wanna grow old
Make a house a home and live out God’s plan
It sounds a little crazy and it is
But I already see us be painting a picket fence…”

“Picket Fence” was co-written by Taylon Hope and Lance Carpenter, produced by Smith Curry and engineered by Mark Lonsway.
