Currently boasting over 150M cumulative streams and close to 6M followers across all platforms, RVSHVD has quickly secured a singular position in country music with his organic, addictive musical fusion and signature vocal tone. Hailing from Willacoochee, GA (pop. 1200), the 26-year-old singer-songwriter was recording early hip-hop and R&B experiments after school on his first MP3 player until “Sweet Thing” by Keith Urban sparked his interest in the country genre. Then came RVSHVD’s a-ha! moment: he could create basic country tracks to sing over just as easily as he could rap and R&B, and the result felt exponentially more personal and authentic.
“I can be myself in country music,” RVSVHD says, “talking about the real things I do and feel without trying to be a persona you need to be successful in hip-hop and other genres. “It’s country, but ‘country’ may sound and look slightly different based on where someone is from and how they were raised.”
With the help of his bare-bones home studio, RVSHVD hit the jackpot with his viral hit version of Roddy Ricch’s “Ballin,” earning over 25M streams while boosting his growing following to more than 1.2M monthly Spotify listeners and over 1.4M fans on TikTok. Songs like “Hit Different,” “Shoebox Money,” “Reverse,” and the iTunes Top Country Songs #1 smash, “Raised Up,” offered further proof of his unique ability to remain rooted in country’s most important truths and traditions while pushing its limits. Companion music videos and much more are streaming now at the official RVSHVD YouTube channel HERE.
Indeed, RVSHVD has stayed true to country tradition by spending much of his time on the road, including a recent tour alongside Willie Jones, a show-stealing appearance at CMA Fest 2023 at Nashville, TN’s Nissan Stadium, and his debut performance at the historic Grand Ole Opry, the latter highlighted by the powerful “For My Dawgs,” joined by Willie Jones and Blanco Brown, streaming now HERE. Additional live dates will be announced soon.
