November 3, 2023 – Benny The Butcher, Emmy-award winning and Grammy-nominated artist, releases his brand new single“Big Dog” via Def Jam Recordings, watch the official video HERE. The member of Buffalo’s acclaimed independent rap collective Griselda releases “Big Dog” featuring Lil Wayne, produced by The Alchemist. This single is the prelude to the highly anticipated EVERYBODY CAN’T GO, Benny’s forthcoming album set to release early next year.
“Big Dog” is Butcher’s first release in conjunction with Def Jam Recordings and comes off the heels of the success of his last album with Griselda Records, Tana Talk 4. Off his first album that broke the Top 25 on the Billboard 200 album chart, the RIAA Certified Gold single, also produced by The Alchemist, “Johnny P’s Caddy” featuring J. Cole charted at #14 on Hot Rap Songs and served as Benny’s first single to break inside the Hot 100.
A skilled lyricist by the age of ten, Benny The Butcher knew that he wanted to be involved with music. Dating as far back as the late 2000s, Benny had self-released his mixtapes The Mayor’s Back and Chains Bond under the artist name B.E.N.N.Y. In 2014, Benny’s cousin Westside Gunn founded Griselda Records, thus enabling the collective consisting of Benny The Butcher, Conway the Machine and Westside Gunn to self-release their own projects under the artist name Griselda. In 2016, Benny continued to self-release the album My First Brick, followed by Butcher on Steroids with DJ Green Lantern in 2017.
At the tail end 2017, Griselda Records signed a deal with Eminem’s Shady Records, a subsidiary of Interscope. In November of 2018, Benny released his album Tana Talk 3, also produced by The Alchemist and Griselda associate Daringer. The project included features from Westside Gunn,Conway the Machine, and Royce da 5’9″. Critically acclaimed, TT3 ushered an onset of widespread attention. In August of 2019 Benny entered into a co-management deal with Roc Nation and Agency 78, which ultimately led to signing his first major record label deal with Def Jam Recordings in 2021.
