Miami, FL (November 30, 2023) – With “Los Sabanales 3.0” comes an anthem for the Christmas season! Colombian music icon Carlos Vives releases a new version of the classic “Los Sabanales” together with the leader of the new generation of reggaeton, Ryan Castro. The track creates the union of two generations celebrating the most popular and beloved song of the great Calixto Ochoa, fulfilling Vives’ mission, to exalt the great composers of Colombia and bring their work to life, bringing them closer to new generations. Listen HERE!
In 2023, Vives celebrated 3 decades of his career by connecting the public of all ages with the roots of music made in Colombia, using the new sound that Vives created 30 years ago. The collaboration between Castro and Vives continues this, bringing together the best of the two universes in a unique musical alliance that first started at the massive concert at La Puerta de Alcalá in Madrid, Spain, celebrating Hispanic Heritage Day 2023 with over 100k fans. The pair performed “Los Sabanales 3.0” live, in anticipation of the release, produced by Carlos Vives, Andrés Leal and SOG, one of the hottest producers on the market and Castro’s right-hand man.
“It became a very good thing for me to work with the new generations and to collaborate with new artists, giving them a change to connect with Colombia. With all the new sounds they have created, it is important that the new generations stay connected to the traditions of Colombian music. That’s what we are celebrating with the 30 years of Carlos Vives and La Provincia.” -Carlos Vives
“I feel very happy, I never imagined this… Obviously, for everything that Carlos has done for Latinos and for Colombian music, I know that my people, my mother, my aunts, are going to feel very proud when they see this. ‘Los Sabanales’ is such an iconic song and Carlos is such a respected person, the fact that he trusts in my talent for me to join this, it really is a great opportunity to enjoy it…” – Ryan Castro
“Los Sabanales 3.0” preserves the essence of the original song and its most memorable verses, with an updated sound and a current touch with some new lines throughout the lyrics. The modern approach can be seen in the music video, which was produced by Mestiza Films and directed by Carlos Felipe Montoya and Sergio I. Rodríguez. The video sees Vives and Castro perform the song and as they sing, bring amazing images of a hybrid of Colombian generations between the rural and the urban; a psychedelic party full of stylish characters, among them a very cool donkey called “Corazón,” who heads that group of everyday stars that reflect the purest popular sentiment.
