TOWA BIRD SURPRISES FANS WITH NEW EP ‘LIVE FROM TERMINAL 5’ OUT NOW

FIVE-SONG EP INCLUDES PREVIOUSLY UNRELEASED FAN FAVORITE “B.I.L.L.S.” &
EXPLOSIVE COVER OF BLUR’S “SONG 2”

December 15, 2023 (Santa Monica, California)– Today marks the surprise release of Live from Terminal 5— the brand-new EP from fast-rising singer/songwriter/guitarist Towa Bird. Recorded during Towa’s crowd-thrilling stint as support for Reneé Rapp’s Snow Hard Feelings Tour, the five-song project features the previously unreleased fan favorite “B.I.L.L.S.” as well as her gloriously bombastic cover of Blur’s “Song 2.” View Live from Terminal 5 performance clips HERE.

Partly captured during the sold-out final night of the Snow Hard Feelings Tour, Live from Terminal 5 fully harnesses the combustible energy and unbridled fun of Towa’s live set. Along with dramatically expanding her fanbase across North America, the Hong Kong-born artist’s opening slot on the tour drew major raves from tastemaking outlets like office (who noted that “[i]f it wasn’t clear before, Towa proved to Terminal 5 that night that she is a rockstar for this next generation”). The Snow Hard Feelings Tour included two stops at Terminal 5 on October 30th and November 3rd.

Threaded with Towa’s charmingly off-the-cuff stage banter, Live from Terminal 5 includes her debut single “Wild Heart” (praised as “exuberant” by NYLON and “an infectious indie-pop romp” by Guitar World)and its frenetic follow-up “Boomerang” (hailed as a “shimmering indie rock anthem” by Ones To Watch). As an added treat for fans, the EP also features a live rendition of Towa’s anti-capitalist anthem “B.I.L.L.S.” All throughout the EP, Towa reveals the raw emotionality, forward-thinking musicality, and jaw-dropping guitar talents that have made her one of the most exciting new live acts this year.

For the closing track to Live from Terminal 5, Towa selected her recent single “Drain Me!”, a sublimely loopy and lust-crazed love song partly co-written with Mikky Ekko (an artist/songwriter/producer known for co-writing and featuring on Rihanna’s nine-times-platinum single “Stay”). Released in October, “Drain Me!” quickly won acclaim from the likes of NME, who deemed it “rambunctious and sexy” and also proclaimed that Towa is “writing a queer love story for the ages.”

All four original songs from Live from Terminal 5 will appear on Towa’s forthcoming debut album, due out next year via Interscope.

A half-Filipino, half-English artist who spent much of her childhood in Thailand and London, Towa first started playing guitar at the age of 12, honing her technique by strumming along to The Kinks, The Who, and other bands she discovered through her father’s record collection. After forming her first band at age 14, she cut her teeth playing dive bars and street festivals in Hong Kong, then went on to study at Goldsmiths, University of London. Naming Jimi Hendrix, Joan Jett, and Prince among her longtime inspirations, Towa dropped out of school after two years to pursue her love of music and got her start producing and co-writing for other artists, in addition to posting videos that found her soloing over hip-hop, pop, and R&B songs. As her singular guitar style gained attention across the globe, Towa began sharing original music and soon after inked her deal with Interscope Records. Due out soon, Towa’s debut album offers up an intimate exploration of queerness, identity, and the complexities of love.
