Danish supergroup Aegteskab (Mike Andersen, Eddi Jarl and Michael Blicher) are releasing their new single “Checking Out” today.
So far, we have known Aegteskab as a musical hybrid between spherical experimental alternative rock, ambient sounds and hand-played music. Both musically and lyrically, ‘Checking Out’ is very different from some of the other songs on the band’s forthcoming debut album, which will be released on 1st March, “The song is the album’s night out, where we forget about everyday obligations for a brief, carefree moment,” says Mike Andersen.
Ths raw energy bomb of a single is best described as a modern take on a rock’n’roll song. Its carefree joie de vivre and charming drive are sure to put smiles on the faces of audiences on the trio’s upcoming tour.
Although the band is new to the Danish music scene, the musicians are by no means novices when it comes to filling concert halls at home and abroad. The band consists of award-winning and internationally acclaimed musician Mike Andersen on vocals and guitar; Eddi Jarl, best known for his exuberant drumming in the Lars Lilholt Band and the Vestbo Trio; and last but not least Michael Blicher on saxophone and bass, who also plays with drumming legend Steve Gadd in Blicher Hemmer Gadd.
What the three have in common is a lifelong love of music and a long-standing fascination with each other’s music and playing styles. In 2022, this fascination grew into a mutual pact – a musical marriage (Aegteskab is Danish for ‘Marriage) between three men who have managed to create a whole new sound with their unconventional line-up.
“Our goal from the beginning was to create a trio with a unique expression and we are very proud of this upcoming album. We look forward to further developing our music and sound live with our audiences,” says the band.
