“Defiance” is the new single of emcee Izrell and producer DEAD PERRY. The duo from Oakland pull no punches in this first round knockout showcasing a very aggressive single release. The video of the single is out as well.

Both top tier Bay Area Hip Hop artists have been making music since the 90’s and continue polishing their skills with each release by sticking to their cheat code of quality over quantity. Emcee veteran Izrell displays diverse word play and story telling skills that compete with the best of the best in upper echelon rappers. There’s no doubt that producer DEAD PERRY keeps the instrumentals in this duo as grimy as can be with a soundscape that rivals any producer holding their own in this new wave of gritty underground Hip Hop.

The duo first linked in Oakland during video shoots for, “The Art Of Reanimation” a full length album by Casual from the legendary Hieroglyphics Crew. DEAD PERRY met Casual at the Hiero compound in Oakland for the video shoot of “Run For Cover” and “When I Ain’t Around”. At first we were supposed to shoot the 2nd video to “Never Say It To Us”, so Cas had Izrell swoop through the compound to get his footage. Before we started shooting anything, we were kicking it in the lobby on the couch listening to songs from “The Art Of Reanimation”. I played “Run For Cover” first and I remember Izrell saying “sounds like someone’s about to get murdered”. From that point on we connected and to this day are friends outside all the music.

Izrell and DEAD PERRY are currently crafting a full length album titled “Kill List”, releasing the album through Below System Records. There’s no official release date for the album but will continue to deliver crushing singles until the project is unveiled.
